A favorite at Artisan’s is the Adajio collection inspired by a diversity of imagery from ancient art of the Americas to contemporary African, Asian and European motifs. Color and texture infuse each design in the collection with a unique visual appeal. Earrings are crafted with metal, glass and crystal beads, then completed with gold-filled or sterling ear wires. The Nelson family started making simple candles in their basement. Now, they craft a truly unique candle that burns with a "twist" - literally! An outer spiral wick burns around the scented candle before self-extinguishing. When it is done, the wooden wick inside the candle can be lit like a traditional pillar, which makes a nice crackling sound, too. -
All items by All Fired Up are designed and made in their studio in Milton, Ontario. Their medium is earthenware (low-fire ceramic). They employ a number of different techniques in making, decorating and glazing products – hand painting, silk screening, slip-trailing, sponging, airbrushing, dipping, wax resist. Soon her husband Aaron was creating displays and traveling with her to shows and teaching himself print and web marketing at night in order to help her. The Austin Design company is a group of artisans that craft each and every piece by hand. They pride themselves not only in their original designs but also in the quality and workmanship that goes into every piece. They blend the colors and elements to create a feeling of the ocean. The sea-style glass used in the jewelry is primarily recycled glass, created from broken bottles, stained glass remnants, and beads. This colorful glass is broken, formed and finished in their studio, then tumbled with genuine beach sand, gravel, and salt water to replicate the roll of ocean waves. The resulting sand-etched finish turns these pieces into modern sea jewels, resembling the natural beach glass found along the shore. Corrine Hodel of Autumn Fern’s love for ferns first had her making her sun print handbags. Her sun print handbags are made using a linen blend material that she hand dyes using a heat sensitive dye. They have two main pockets with zipper closures and a back pocket with a Velcro closure. The lining is a cotton batik design. Corrine uses a variety of foliages and hand cut images, from ferns and leaves to dragonflies, butterflies and hummingbirds. -
Torn between his passion for both art and business, David left his hospitality financial consulting career to travel the world to write, paint, and contemplate his future. After three years of adventures around the globe, he ended up in the East Village of New York City in 1991. Determined to pursue a more creative path, he purchased a small bag of beads from an African bead store and taught himself how to make earrings. The business grew as David drove throughout New York and New England selling his creations store-to-store. His travels eventually led him to the Mad River Valley in Vermont where he decided to relocate. Today, the Baked Beads company continues to grow by offering clean, colorful jewelry, scarves, and other accessories emphasizing style and moderate price points. Most importantly, David, his wife Robin and their amazing crew are having as much fun making jewelry today as they were 25 years ago. -
