A former teacher, who discovered and developed her special talent for the medium of clay, Hazel Olsen has taught ceramics and design for UC Santa Cruz, opened her own business in 1970, and has exhibited internationally. She divides her time between her studio in the rich agricultural region, the San Joaquin Valley, and her seaside home on the California Coast, in an area known for its colony of artists. It is her home and her inspiration. Her inclusion of shells, driftwood, and other natural elements is her way of sharing the essence of the coastal wildlife and flora.
